The Beverly Farms Cemetery was founded in 1840. The cemetery fence was last replaced in 1899 by Andrew Stanley after approval by City Council. We successfully petitioned the Beverly Historic District Commission to designate the cemetery as significant in history to the city of Beverly. There are many projects to be done in the Beverly Farms Cemetery. We decided to start with restoration of the cemetery fence. We are grateful to have the support of the Mayor’s office and Commissioner Mike Collins. We have contracted with Cassidy Brothers Forge in Rowley (www.cassidybros.com). Restoration of this wrought iron fence will be expensive, and therefore we will do the project in 3 stages. Stage 1 is completed. This portion of the restoration was funded by BFIS. The fence was removed, sent to a de-leading facility, and returned to the Cassidy Brothers factory where it was restored. It was then replaced in April 2020. Stage 2 will be restoring the section of fence along Haskell St that ends at the end of High St. We were awarded a CPA grant that will cover the cost of this portion of the restoration. We are partnering with the City of Beverly for this stage. Stage 3 will be the remaining fence that starts at High St and then curves around along Hart St. Any unrestricted gifts at this time are being applied to Stage 3. You can order a customized brick on Coluntino Way to support this restoration.
